Curation & Interpretation

... in the Age of Digital Media

Networking site arising out of the 26 June 2009 event "Curation & Interpretation in the Age of Digital Media" held at Kingston University.

Curation & Interpretation in the Age of Digital Media

Welcome to all!

This web site is the networking and documentation hub of the culture and heritage professionals, practitioners, and academics who met on 26th June 2009 in the C-SCAIPE suite of Kingston University for the Curation & Interpretation in the Age of Digital Media symposium organised within the framework of the University's cross-faculty Heritage, Arts & Regeneration Working Group. We hope that over the course of time we will be able to welcome new friends and collaborators to the network, not only from London and the UK, but internationally.

Although all contributions relating to the arts, culture, and heritage are welcome, we especially value postings and content that relate very specifically to the innovative and creative use of information and communication technologies in collection, cataloging, curation, interpretation (including social tagging), and exhibiting. We hope over time to build a significant repository of resources that will be of value to all who are working at the interface of Heritage and New Media.

If you have ideas for further development of this site, or any queries about the purpose and mission of the site, please feel free to get in touch with me.

The Heritage, Arts & Regeneration Working Group was established in October 2008 with the remit

  • To establish Kingston University as an institution at the forefront of the international heritage and regeneration agenda;
  • To constitute a dynamic interface between the research, undergraduate and postgraduate education and professional activities of this work;
  • To draw the activities of practice, policy and conservation more fully within the contexts of creative industry and economy

The programme of the Curation & Interpretation in the Age of Digital Media symposium is reproduced as the first blog entry of this site.
